Microblade Week 4 Picture

We are at day 24 of the overall microblading experience. As a refresher, this was a decision I made after (many years ago) WAY overplucking my eyebrows when it was in fashion. The natural brow loss that comes with age only exacerbated the situation, and my eyebrows virtually disappeared from sight.

I grew tired of always having to pencil them in, and wasn’t really happy with the way they were looking after trying several shades of brow liner. So I decided to take a very scary and dramatic step (for me). I decided to give microblading a try. For anyone just being introduced to this topic, microblading is basically getting tattoos of (hopefully) natural brow strokes that mimic the appearance of real eyebrow hairs. It’s Week 4 (24 days to be specific) What’s the Verdict So Far?

Overall, I’m pretty happy. I’ve attached a picture of the progress so far. There is a spot at the edge of the left brow that looks too dark/and thick that I will need to have fixed. I’m hoping she can blend it better so it doesn’t look like a lone dark spot standing out on its own.

There are some strokes that you can see at the top of the right brow that I’ve pointed out that are a little thick and not natural-looking enough for my taste (they don’t look like skinny strokes, instead they almost look like shading).

However, despite these imperfections I like the way I look a lot better when I wake up with no makeup on now. While the results were EXTREMELY severe for at least the first week, and I was seriously reconsidering my decision, I’m glad I stuck with it. Do yourself a favor if you ever have the procedure done – make sure you read a lot about the expectations of the first few weeks.

Otherwise you may think you’ve made a huge mistake for a week or two as the results settle into their final outcome, which can take several weeks, plus the healing after the second appointment. Related: Microblade Experience 2 Months | What's the Verdict?

Up Til Now, Here’s What Happened

I only experienced a short period of itchiness. That happened around week 2 when the real healing started. I also started to notice that the scabbing looked like white fuzz growing out of my eyebrows. Yeah, I said it’s not a pretty picture for about a week or two, and that’s part of the unpleasant appearance too.

I feel like they really started to fade nicely around the middle of week two. Then I could really see the line she created and thought it did look right for my facial frame, with the exception of a few things that need fixed. It also looked natural enough. Not totally natural of course, but even drawing them on every day only gets you so far to “natural”.

There are definitely some totally bald spots that will need to be filled in when I go for my follow up this next week. Even with the bald spots, they still look better than when I previously filled them in every day.

There is no possible way any technician can get it 100% right the first time with all the blood and fluid getting in the way during the procedure, I could see them having a lot of blind spots in that initial appointment.

So I understand why most reputable artists will ask you to come back for a follow up in 4-8 weeks. In fact, most of them will include this in the overall cost, because it is almost always necessary (unless of course you are not happy with the way they look at all). More to come as I go for my follow up. I will report on how the second appointment goes, and let you know what to expect from there too. I’m hoping for a much less severe outcome. I’d prefer not to have to go into hiding for a week again :)
