Saving Money on Beauty and Personal Care Products

Money - Pennies - Nickels - Dimes on White Driftwood Background

We recently ran a series on how to save money in these  inflationary times. See Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4 of this series to maybe fine even one way you might save some money that you perhaps haven’t thought of yet. We are all getting a little creative these days, so you never know when you might find a new tip or trick to save!

Pretty much everyone is feeling the impact of universally increasing costs on their wallet. As a business, we’ve actually had to make some price adjustments that we really didn’t want to make, however if you want to keep pace with inflation and keep your business a going concern, at some point you have no choice but to pass on some of the costs.

While we will continue to strive to look for ways to provide the utmost value to you, our cherished customers, we thought it only timely and appropriate that we write about how you can save on our segment of consumer goods – beauty and personal care!

I’m a big advocate of not spending a ton of money to get very high-quality body, skin and hair care products - it’s a huge reason behind the launch of Aura Sensory products. You don’t have to pay a hefty “luxury” price tag to get “luxury” results. You just have to find the products that work as a luxury item would for you, and that can take some time.

Look for Satisfaction Guarantees, and Focus on Value as Opposed to Perceived Prestige & Luxury

If you want to experiment, and you have some expensive products that you really like, try looking at the ingredient list. Look for products that are on the less expensive end of the spectrum that contain these same ingredients, and you at least have a start at finding comparable beauty products for a much lower price tag.

Sure, prestige usually counts for something. It usually means that a brand has lived up to its price tag. However this is not always the case, and some people actually find they get better results or value with lesser known high-quality products.

Also, don’t forget to look for products that offer a money back guarantee. We offer a 30 day money back guarantee because we know how important it is to get value out of your dollar, and if something does not work for you, by all means it should be returnable. If you are buying products with these types of guarantees, at least you can get your money back if it doesn’t work out.

Make Things Stretch

Need to make your shampoo last longer? Try watering it down a bit. Or make sure your hair is over-saturated with water before you start to add the shampoo to it, it really makes a difference in making your shampoo go further.

When it comes to conditioner, most people over-use it thinking this will give them better results. The truth is, with a concentrated conditioner, you don’t need a ton of it to get detangled, shiny and healthy hair. This is especially true if your conditioner is a thicker, richer formula. You may not be able to get away with this with the thinner, more watery types of conditioner though.

Value Over Prestige (Again)

I wish I could recommend the same “stretching it” philosophy for face creams, but I’m actually a staunch advocate of using a lot of face cream. You should use it generously on the face and the neck for best results. Your facial and neck skincare does need a little more TLC. So you shouldn’t skimp on this. BUT you can find high quality creams for a reasonable price so you don’t have to be layering on an expensive cream that will cost you the equivalent of a small grocery bill to buy again.

Our deodorant is made to be used to the last drop. There is zero waste since it comes in a jar that can be used right to the last bit of product. There is no product that remains unusable like in a roll up tube, where some of it gets stuck in the roll up device. So it is actually a ready-made zero waste product that you don’t even have to think about.
